Martel The Essential
Interesting
The bell tower of St Maur, the belfry, the towers of Tournemire, Mirandol, des Cordeliers, the Hôtel Vergnes de Ferron and the house of Henri Court-Mantel: visible from afar, it is these spires that earned Martel its nickname of the "town with seven towers". Built on a limestone plateau in Haut Quercy, it is a good place to stop off and explore the Causse de Gramat and the valley of the Dordogne.
