Natural History Museum of Nantes

Recommended
Opened in 1799, the city's natural history museum was moved to the former mint (Hôtel de la Monnaie) in 1875. Its sizeable collections cover the fields of zoology, local fauna, osteology, palaeontology, prehistory, earth sciences, mineralogy, ethnography and conchology. Note the impressive skeleton of a whale, as well as that of a basilosaurus isis (the only one of its kind in France) in the zoology gallery.
