Port facilities of Saint-Nazaire

This port has been massively extended since its original creation and two constructions in particular draw the eye: the Louis Joubert Lock (1929-1932); the submarine base built during the Occupation (14 pits with the capacity for 20 submarines). To grasp the dimensions of the port facilities, go up onto the panoramic terraces on the roof of the submarine base, where there is a permanent exhibition charting the history of the site.
