Beauvais The Essential
Interesting
The best views of Beauvais can be enjoyed from the Pont de Paris, from where the imposing bulk of the cathedral, supported by a mass of flying buttresses, rises above the rooftops. Make your way into the town, which suffered some of the worst bomb damage of the Second World War, and you'll pass wood-timbered houses and a few examples of architectural ceramics, one of the region's great traditions. The capital of the Oise and the centre of tapestry remains typical of the Picardy in every way.
