Angoulême The Essential
Recommended
Overhanging the Charente River, the old town of Angoulême has three faces; to the north, the narrow alleys, to the south, the aristocratic houses and to the East the business area. Famous for its paper mills (the famous « Angoulême vellum »), it is, above, all the capital of the cartoon. In 1975 a handful of madmen created the famous festival. This has earned it world-wide renown and now it's everywhere... even on the paving slabs!
