Château de Tarascon

Recommended
One of the favourite residences of King René of Anjou, who commissioned the highly refined exterior decoration. Don't miss the outer bailey and apothecary, the royal court with the cantors' chapel and the many-sided turret housing a stairway. The painted wooden ceilings and fireplaces in the royal quarters prove that here, as in Angers, King René enjoyed comfort and lavish feasts. The terrace affords a magnificent panorama of the surrounding area.
