Lourmarin The Essential
Interesting
With Renaissance fountains and façades dotted about, the narrow streets of this village beloved of tourists offer pleasant walks, and art galleries, craft shops and sunny café terraces add to its charm. Those with a sweet tooth can round off their trip with a gibassier, a local dessert made with olive oil. Set slightly apart from the village, on an overhang, the château was bequeathed to Aix-en-Provence's Académie des Arts et Belles-Lettres so that the Academy could make it into a Provençal version of the Villa Medici.
