Château des Roure

The Roure château was built in the 16C on the Pont d'Arc road and enabled the gorges of the Ardèche to be controlled. In 1703, it was stormed by the camisards. Its architecture is inspired by Renaissance-style Florentine palaces, as the courtyard shows. The spiral staircase and great hall on the first floor are remarkable. Inside is a silk museum and a silk worm farm that is still in operation. Lastly, the rampart walk offers excellent views over the Cévennes.
