Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie de Valence

Recommended
The most interesting aspect of this museum, housed in the former bishops' palace, is the series of 97 red chalk drawings and paintings by Hubert Robert depicting views of Rome and the Roman countryside. The contemporary art section focuses on Abstract art from the second half of the 20C (Bram van Velde, Michaux, Hantaï etc). The refurbished museum will have an ultramodern annexe that will make for a better organisation of the visit, a viewpoint offering a 360° view over the Rhône Valley and a garden overlooking the boulevards de Valence.
