Palais de l'Île

Interesting
Built on an island in the 12C, the residence of the counts of Geneva has been the state mint, a prison (last in use during the Occupation) and the courthouse. These days it houses the Architecture and Heritage Centre (Centre d'interprétation de l'architecture et du patrimoine). It makes for a remarkable scene, with its forbidding walls reflected on the still waters of the Thiou.
