Voiron The Essential
Winter sports enthusiasts owe a great deal to the Porte de la Chartreuse: it was here, in 1905, that a local cabinetmaker named Rossignol developed the first pair of skis made in France. Today they are no longer made of wood but of fibreglass, proof that the people of Voiron, specialists in electronic technology, know how to keep pace with the times. The town is also famous for its Chartreuse liquor cellars.
