Giverny The Essential

Claude Monet lived in this village from 1883 to his death in 1926, and is buried here. A veritable artistic colonisation ensued! This is where he painted the vast canvases of the Waterlilies which can be seen at the Orangerie museum in Paris, as well as at the Marmottan Museum. His pink house with its green shutters and delicious garden seem to transplant the visitor into the painter's finest works.
