Maulbronn's Abbey

Founded in 1147, this monastic cluster of buildings is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don't miss the church, which illustrates the transition from Romanesque to Gothic or the cloisters. The monks' refectory, known as Paradise, dates from 1220-30, while the Well chapel, around 1350, was used for the monks' ablutions and tonsure rituals. The Gothic style monastic buildings are located in a Renaissance castle. Finally, the Matins house is now home to the Monastery museum.
