Bamberg Cathedral

Recommended
The architecture of Bamberg Cathedral illustrates the transition from Romaneque to Gothic, a characteristic of this being the two apses facing each other, one on the east side, the other on the west side. From east to west, the progression from Romanesque to Gothic is at once apparent. The cathedral houses several masterpieces of Gothic sculpture, in particular the Knight of Bamberg and the tomb of Henry II the saint and of Cunegonda.
