Plassenburg Castle, Kulmbach
Dominating the town of Kulmbach (renowned for its strong beers), this impressive medieval fortress is very well preserved. The rugged castle buildings contrast with the refinement of the Renaissance courtyard (three rows of galleries on three sides). The interior has been restored and houses various museums.
