Oberstdorf The Essential
Recommended
Oberstdorf (altitude 843m), surrounded by the Allgaü Alps and situated at Germany's southernmost point, is a favourite with mountaineering and winter sports enthusiasts. With the construction of the largest solar power station in Bavaria, a network of electric buses and 10% of the town prohibited to motorised traffic, the town has opted for ecological innovation while at the same time maintaining its heritage and its agricultural traditions.
