Museum Island

Highly recommended
The northern tip of Spree island is home to an incredible collection of museums. The result of a century of cultural policy which created one of the richest art collections in the world, the Museuminsel site includes the Pergamon Museum, the Altes Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Bode Museum and the Neues Museum - it's hardly surprising that UNESCO have declared it a World Heritage Site. An ambitious restoration programme is underway, which is scheduled for completion by 2012.
