New Guardhouse

This small perfectly proportioned monument represents a temple fronted by Doric columns and flanked on either side by two massive pillars. In 1966 it became a memorial to "the victims of war and dictatorship". A reproduction of the moving sculpture by Käthe Kollwitz Mother with her Dead Son stands alone, illuminated by light falling vertically from above.
