Sankt-Hedwigs-Kathedrale

Interesting
Built between 1747 and 1773 according to plans by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, this church was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. Frederick II dedicated the church to the Catholic Saint Hedwig, the patron saint of recently conquered Silesia. The cathedral is renowned for its large dome and pediment carved with biblical scenes. One of the chapels in the lower church houses the tomb of Bernhard Lichtenberg, a cathedral priest who died during his transport to Dachau in 1943.
