Potsdam The Essential
Highly recommended
Once the residence of the kings of Prussia, Potsdam is a fine example of a Prussian town with its low houses, pedestrianised streets, old gates, Sans-Souci Palace and New Palace. The capital of Brandeburg is currently undergoing a new lease of life: its city-centre canal is gradually being restored; a new district with a resolutely contemporary architectural style is being built on the shores of the Tiefer See; and the historic Old Market Square and its Parliament have regained some of their original splendour.
