Steam-powered pumping station

Interesting
To make the fountains of Potsdam work, Friedrich Wilhelm IV designed a "sort of Turkish mosque with a minaret chimney-stack." The "mosque" (1841-43) represents a highly successful marriage between art and industry. The interior is as unusual as the exterior. The steam-powered machinery is hidden behind multifoil arches, underneath a dome embellished with Moorish designs.
