Former Town Hall of Göttingen

The town hall, built in the 14C and 15C, has a characteristic medieval layout. Before the façade stands the Goose girl fountain, an Art nouveau gem and the focal point of a student graduation ritual. At the southwest corner of the Markt, the view embraces four churches: St Alban's country-style dome to the east; St Michael's to the south; the octagonal towers of St John's to the west, and the splendid bell-tower (72m/236ft) of St James' to the north.
