Hanover
Hanover The Essential
Two-thirds of the city of Hanover (twinned with Hiroshima!) were destroyed in 1945 and it is of limited interest from a historic or tourist standpoint. Only the Herrenhausen gardens, designed in the 18C by Charbonnier, a pupil of Le Nôtre, reflect the Baroque splendour of this city of princes. The media like the capital of Lower Saxony and you may well come across a few paparazzi on motorbikes, trailing the car of Ernst-August of Hanover, the husband of Caroline of Monaco.
