Peenemünde Experimental Research Centre

Located on the north side of the island of Usedom, the Peenemünde Experimental Research Centre was created in 1936. It was here that the V2 rockets which took thousands of lives during the Second World War were developed. Yet the rockets also mark the beginning of modern space exploration.
