Meissen The Essential
Interesting
Meissen, famous for its celebrated porcelain factory, developed on a rocky plateau at the point where the Triebisch empties into the Elbe, 15km northwest of Dresden. The cathedral and monastic buildings stand on the Burgberg hill, from where there is a fine view of the old town, with its rich Gothic and Renaissance heritage, the vineyards and the countryside where the course of the Elbe runs.
