Kavala The Essential
Interesting
Located on the border of Eastern Macedonia, Kavala is built in tiers at the end of a sweeping and bright bay. Bustling and colourful, it is divided into an old quarter, Panagia, which clings to a rocky promontory crowned by a citadel, and a dynamic modern quarter, living from fishing, the clothing industry and the production of grapes and honey. The town is an ideal departure point for an excursion to Philippi, the island of Thassos or one of numerous beaches around.
