Patmos

Highly recommended
The northernmost island of the Dodecanese is an important place of Christendom: St John the Apostle wrote the Apocalypse here, and an 11C monastery dedicated to him vies with Mt Athos as the centre of Greek Orthodoxy. At it feet, there lies Hora, architecturally one of the finest towns in the Aegean. Patmos also has bright landscapes, rugged coastline and many beaches suitable for water sports.
