West and South Ramparts

Recommended
The 4km-long walls already existed when the Knights Hospitaller arrived, but they rebuilt them almost in their entirety and never stopped strengthening them. The walls were divided into sections called "boulevards", each of which was defended by one nation. The rampart walk runs along the different boulevards from the Amboise Gate to St John's Gate, allowing you to see up close the defences reinforced by bastions. Fine views of the moat and Turkish quarter.
