Clare Heritage Centre

Housed in Corofin's old village church, this exhibition tells the story of life in the region in the 19C. The collection includes tools and household objects used in connection with linen work, making butter, and farming. It also evokes the Great Famine, underlining the huge distress of farmers and the resulting mass emigration - more than 100 000 people are thought to have left the region at this time.
