National Museum of Archaeology

Recommended
This museum houses exceptional archaeological and Celtic collections, including the remarkable Treasury, gathering together items from the Bronze Age to the 15C: the miniature gold boat from the Broighter Hoard (1C AD), the Ardagh chalice (8C), the Tara brooch (8C), the reliquary of St Patrick's bell (c 1100), the "Cathach", a reliquary of St Columba's psalter (12C-15C), and the leather and ivory Kavanagh Charter horn, the only object associated with Irish royalty to have survived from the period.
