Trim The Essential
Interesting
Trim sits on an ancient ford of the River Boyne. In the 12C Hugh de Lacy, one of the knights who arrived with Strongbow and then made Lord of Meath by Henry II (1172), chose the town as his headquarters, with Parliament sitting there from time to time. To control his territory, which stretched from the Irish Sea to the River Shannon, he divided it into baronies which he granted to his knights.
