Nenagh The Essential
The administrative centre of Tipperary North Riding, Nenagh is located between Lake Dergh and the Silvermine and Arra Mountains. The town was first settled by Anglo-Normans in the 12C. In the 19C, it became an important garrison town. The town has preserved its huge 13C keep and, dating from the same century, the walls of the church of a Franciscan friary, which was once one of Ireland's most famous monasteries.
