The Essential
This interesting historic town in the south of County Tipperary, also called Cahir, (and pronounced Care) is located on the banks of the River Suir, where there are pleasant walks. Overlooked by its 13C castle, Caher owes most of its features to the Butler family who built the mills, the covered market and Caher House in the 18C. Despite two bankruptcies in the 19C, the flourmill flourished under the guidance of 6 Quaker families.
