Enniscorthy The Essential
Built on the sloping banks of the Slaney, Enniscorthy holds an important place in Irish history because of its involvement in the 1798 rebellion. The town's castle and cathedral are two buildings of exceptional interest and its examples of 19C architecture have remained largely unchanged. Events in the town's history are depicted in a 1798 memorial (Market Square). The surrounding country is well suited to the growing of soft fruits.
