Wicklow
Wicklow The Essential
Wicklow is the county town and commercial centre of the north part of the country. It is also a pleasant seaside resort, sheltered by the Wicklow Hills to the east. The town's Irish name is connected to Saint Mantan, a missionary who built a church here in the 5C. Four centuries later, the Danish Vikings established the port, which later became an important trading centre. The town's name is derived from Wyking-alo, Danish for Viking prairie.
