Forum of Augustus

Recommended
The Forum of Augustus follows the layout of the Forum Romanum and Caesar's Forum. In the middle and at the far end are several columns from the Temple of Mars Ultor, built in honour of Julius Caesar, adoptive father of Octavian who took the name Augustus on becoming emperor. To the left of the temple, a space preceded by two columns was the site of a 14m-high statue of Augustus. A footprint may still be discerned on the pedestal.
