Galleria Borghese

Highly recommended
Housed in a magnificent 17C villa, this gallery is home to an amazing collection of pictures and sculpture amassed by avid art-lover Cardinal Scipione Borghese. Among the masterpieces on the ground floor are several works by Bernini, vying to outdo each other in beauty. Note also the statue of Pauline Bonaparte by Canova (room 1) and the pictures by Caravaggio (room 8), not to mention works by Botticelli, Pinturricchio, Di Credi, Fra Bartolomeo, Raphael, Titien and Veronese.
