Accademia Carrara (Carrara Academy)

Recommended
Established in a Neoclassical palace, the Accademia Carrara is one of the major museums of Italy. Its treasures include two portraits by Botticelli (Julian of Medici) and Pisanello (Leonello d'Este), Venetian works (Giovanni Bellini, Andrea Mantagna and Gentile Bellini), the Ferrarese (Cosimo Tura) and the Lombard schools (Bergonone, Previtali) as well as the main painter of the Renaissance in Lombardy. Admirable 16C portrait section.
