S. Zanipolo

Recommended
In the Venetian dialect, Zanipòlo is a contraction of St John and St Paul. The austere Gothic basilica dedicated to them was the burial place for the doges and opens onto the square after which it is named. In its centre stands a splendid equestrian statue of Bartolmeo Colleoni by Verrochio (1434-88), and the Scuola Grande di San Marco.
