Scuola Grande di San Rocco

Highly recommended
The school is dedicated to Saint Rocco, patron saint of the sick and plague-stricken. The confraternity, devoted to the fight against the plague, grew in numbers, particularly after the transfer of the saint's relics from Montpellier to Venice in 1485. The school is home to a fine collection of works by Tintoretto (1564-1587), including the finest Mannerist work he ever painted. Note how the artist conveys the message of Salvation in a populist and emotive style.
