Interesting
The town of Aosta is situated in the centre of the Aosta valley, an autonomous bilingual (Italian and French) region. The town has retained its Roman castrum layout, as well as some of its ancient monuments. Now popular with tourists, this important medieval religious centre on the road leading to the Grand Saint-Bernard Pass and Switzerland was the birthplace of St Anselme, former Archbishop of Canterbury.
