Piazza Vecchia

Recommended
Piazza Vecchia represents the political centre of Bergamo. On the right is the Palladian style Scamozziano palace, headquarters of the city library and home to some 500,000 volumes, while opposite Ragione palace is the oldest town hall of Italy dating from 1199. The Torre Civica, which keeps watch over the Palazzo del Podestà, commands a fine view. The arcades of the Palace of Reason lead to the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, the centre of religious power.
