Avigliana The Essential
Until the 15C, this small town in the Val di Susa west of Turin was one of the favourite residences of the princes of Savoy. It has retained a charming historic centre from that period, huddled around the Piazza Conte Rosso. From Avigliana, a scenic route runs along the two glacial lakes of Avigliana, and leads to the Sacra di San Michele. This abbey is now one of Piedmont's emblematic sights and a spiritual symbol of the region.
