Arcipelago della Maddalena
Some sixty granite and shale islands make for a magical landscape sculpted by erosion from the wind and sea. Two of the islands - La Maddalena and Caprera - are classic holiday destinations for travellers to Sardinia. The 180km of coastline are protected by their national park status and inhabited by yellow-legged gulls and shags, Artemisia and Posidonia oceanica.
