Parco Nazionale dell'Asinara
This national park created in 1997 encompasses the Isola dell'Asinara and the sea surrounding it. Inland, the Mediterranean scrubland boasts some 30 endemic plant species and more than 80 wild mammal species, not to mention the Sardinian Partridge and Corsican Seagull. As for the coast, on the steep, rocky eastern side the sea is very deep, whereas the eastern side, with its long sandy beaches, is ideal for a dip. This protected ecosystem can be explored in a multitude of ways: further information can be obtained from the park.
