Palazzo Biscari

Interesting
The palazzo is the city's most handsome civic building. It is the work of Ignazio Paternò Castello, Prince of Biscari, an art, literature and archaeology enthusiast who financed numerous digs and set up an archaeological museum here (collections displayed at San Francesco Borgia). The south-facing windows of the long terrace are richly decorated. Visit the reception rooms, especially the ballroom decorated with stucco, gilt and mirrors, and be sure to look out for the frescoes by Sebastiano Lo Monaco on the cupola.
