Castroreale The Essential
Once known as Cristina, the town of Castroreale changed its name when Frederick II of Aragon granted it the title of royal borough and provided it with a vast territory in recognition of the town's loyalty during the war against the Angevins. Castroreale has retained its medieval layout, with its maze of narrow streets and alleyways, and is dotted with churches housing magnificent works of art.
