Taormina The Essential
Taormina was favoured by the Ancient Greeks and Romans and is nowadays very popular with British and German tourists. As such, it is probably the busiest place in Sicily. Perched on the side of a mountain overlooking the sea, it has managed to retain its medieval character, including an interesting mix of old buildings. Its most famous monument is the extraordinary Teatro Greco (Greek Theatre), with its magnificent views of Mt Etna and the sea.
