Gibilmanna sanctuary (Santuario di Gibilmanna)

This sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna is 800m above sea level in the middle of a forest of oak and chestnut trees. It is one of six sanctuaries created by Gregory the Great in the 6C. The current building is the product of a number of modifications made during the Baroque period. The facade was restored in 1907. Do not miss the Byzantine-style 11C fresco of the Virgin and Child in one of the chapels. You can also visit a museum dedicated to the lives of the Capuchin monks in the next-door convent.
