Palais Pretorio

The austere 19C façade conceals several buildings of different styles. The oldest dates back to the 14C, to the time when the local senate sat in this palace. You will discover all the exuberance of Sicilian Baroque within. The upper storey contains a bas-relief representing a crowned Demeter, in tribute to the Sicilian goddess. The council room, or stone room, is well worth a look for its marble panels rich in inscriptions and its superb wooden light fitting.
